New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials arrived at AAP leader Amanatullah Khan’s residence this morning as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation against the MLA. The case involves alleged irregularities in appointments within the Delhi Waqf Board and the leasing of its properties.

In a video statement posted on X, Mr. Khan claimed that the ED team intends to arrest him under the guise of conducting a search. He mentioned that his mother-in-law, who is a cancer patient and recently underwent surgery, is also present at his home, a fact he said he had already communicated to the ED.

Alleging that the agency’s real aim is to arrest him, Amanatullah Khan stated, “They have been harassing me for two years with false cases, creating problems. They are targeting our entire party with the objective of breaking us. I appeal to the people of Okhla to pray for me, and I promise we will fulfill all your needs. Don’t worry, we will not be intimidated.”

In the visuals, an elderly woman is seen lying on a bed as Mr. Khan converses with a man—presumably an ED official—standing outside a mesh door. “I need four weeks’ time. My mother-in-law has just had surgery,” Mr. Khan says. The man outside responds, “Why do you think we’re here to arrest you?” The legislator retorts, “Why else have you come?” A woman’s voice, likely Mr. Khan’s wife, is heard questioning, “What do you need to search in a three-room house? Why do you have to turn my home upside down every time?”

“She has cancer and recently underwent surgery. If anything happens to my mother, I will take you to court. She can’t even stand,” the woman adds.

Top AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh have condemned the BJP-led government at the Centre, accusing it of targeting individuals who dare to speak out against the ruling party.

“This is the only job left for the ED—silence every voice that speaks against the BJP and imprison those who refuse to break,” said former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was recently granted bail in a money laundering case.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh, who was also arrested in a money laundering case, questioned the validity of the probe against Mr. Khan, calling it a “comedy.” He pointed out that the CBI informed the court that no financial crime was committed in this matter. Mr. Khan had been arrested in this case, but the court found no evidence of corruption, Mr. Singh added. He also noted that the ED had searched Mr. Khan’s home last year and found nothing.

Meanwhile, BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly criticized Mr. Khan, labeling him as a “notorious, corrupt, and anti-social element.” He questioned the AAP, stating, “If you are defending hooliganism and corruption like this, it shows how Arvind Kejriwal’s politics misleads people.”
