A sessions court in Bengaluru on Monday disapproved the bail application of renowned Kannada performer Darshan Thoogudeepa and his associate Pavithra Gowda concerning the Renukaswamy murder incident.
As per law enforcement reports, Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old admirer of the actor, had sent inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda, which infuriated Darshan, allegedly resulting in the admirer’s death. His remains were discovered near a stormwater drain adjacent to an apartment in Sumanahalli, Bengaluru, on June 9.
Darshan was not directly involved in the incident, nor was he at the scene during the homicide, stated the actor’s attorney. Nevertheless, the prosecution, while contesting the bail, claimed there exists substantial evidence in terms of technical data and eyewitness testimonies against the actor.
In September, the police in Bengaluru presented an extensive charge sheet comprising 3,991 pages, targeting 17 individuals implicated in the situation, including Darshan and Gowda.
Darshan is presently located in Ballary prison, having been moved there after photographs of him socializing with three others in Parappana Agrahara Central jail surfaced online in August, igniting controversy over alleged special treatment in custody.
